Journal for Reflection and Strength
Journaling can sound like a lot of work if you aren’t used to doing an activity like this, but it can be helpful to get these thoughts floating around in your brain out on paper. You will start to recognize patterns in how you think and talk about yourself and where you are in life and that’s when you can really start changing your mindset. You can use this as an opportunity to practice positive reassurance for yourself by saying things like, ‘I know I have the skills to get through X today because I believe in myself, and I know I have the skills to do it well.’
It’s ok to try new things. This helps build confidence.
If it is a new task and you have to learn something in order to get started, that’s ok, too. Start off with something more like, ‘Ugh, I haven’t done this before… but, I know I am capable of learning what I need to in order to do it. I have done things that are similar, and I know that if I approach this challenge in the same way, I can succeed.’
You can do journalling at your own pace and timeframe. Maybe only once a week is helpful or, for some, once a day is better, this will just depend on how you want to use it for your own personal growth.
Curious About Journaling?
If you are curious about journaling and want a few prompts to get you started, we have a downloadable PDF that can be used as a starting point.
Confidence can be a hard thing to find for a lot of people, not just kids, but if you show confidence in what you are doing in life, your kids will see this too and will learn from you to build confidence for themselves. They can develop and practice being confident early on. It’s never too late to try and build confidence in yourself.
Just remember to have fun!
We will see you in Mewowville!
